OCT 26-27, 2013
On the weekend of October 26th, join us for an intensive writers workshop at Castle Hill, a private eighteenth-century estate in Virginia horse country. At our retreats, small groups of aspiring writers work one-on-one with published, award-winning authors to develop powerful personal essays. Participants have the opportunity to think and work amid the splendor of the gardens and grounds of a fabled historic estate that is rich literary tradition. The writing coaches for this weekend will be the acclaimed writers Jenny Gardiner and Kristy Kiernan .
Jenny Gardiner is the author of the award-winning novel Sleeping with Ward Cleaver; the memoir Winging It: A Memoir of Caring for a Vengeful Parrot Who’s Determined to Kill Me; the novels Slim to None (#1 bestseller on Kindle); Anywhere but Here; Where the Heart Is; the essay collection Naked Man on Main Street, and Accidentally on Purpose and Compromising Positions (writing as Erin Delany); and is a contributor to the humorous dog anthology I’m Not the Biggest Bitch in This Relationship. Her work has been found in Ladies Home Journal, the Washington Post and on NPR’s Day to Day. She and her family live in Virginia.
Kristy Kiernan is the author of Matters of Faith, an IndieNext Notable Selection and winner of the Florida Book Awards bronze medal, as well as the reading group favorites Catching Genius and Between Friends. She is the founder of The Debutante Ball–one of the first group blogs for debut authors–now in its seventh year, and lives in northern Florida.
The price to attend our workshop is $500. To register, please contact Stewart Humiston and include your name, email address, and phone number. Space is limited to 10 individuals so we encourage you to register early.
