Readers and Writers Retreats

MAY 20th-23rd, 2013

Ten significant authors, in three days, telling you the story of their work, answering your questions and sharing iced tea.

If you love to read or write, for fun or for profit, there may never be a better opportunity than this. We have assembled a remarkable group of authors for you to enjoy. From writers of best-selling legal thrillers to blockbuster biographies, heart-warming fiction to true-life memoirs, our authors have been honored with prestigious awards and rave reviews. In small intimate groups, you will be able to hear your favorite writers speak candidly about their process, their inspiration and their success. And all of this will take place on the grounds and gardens of Castle Hill, one of the most historically significant homes in Virginia.

We will also acquaint you with the history and home of this area’s most famous local author, Thomas Jefferson. We will visit his architectural masterpiece, Monticello, for a private tour of the interiors as well as the renowned gardens. Our visit will be led by Peter Hatch, former director of the grounds and gardens at Monticello, as well as, author of a lyrical and scholarly study of the Monticello vegetable garden.

In keeping with our tradition of southern hospitality, every meal has been designed to be a combination of great fun and sumptuous cuisine.

While inspiring your intellect we would like to please your palate with exceptional food and wine. From the delicious cuisine prepared by our personal chef, Clifton Inn’s Tucker Yoder, to the choice of award-winning wine, this holiday will truly be a gourmand’s delight.Dinners
